Capacity planning, Online (June 27 – 29th 2023)
Most companies focus on getting their Materials plans correct assuming that they will have the capacity to manufacture whatever they have the materials to build. The truth is that they are wrong. If they haven’t planned their capacity, they will have higher inventories and lower customer service. In Lean Manufacturing the issue of Capacity management changes, but it is still something that requires management for the company to gain the correct results.
This class will consider the Capacity Management that is a part of all MRP II systems and how the system should be used. We will also study how the transition to Lean Manufacturing changes the information needed and how Capacity Management can be changed to meet the needs of the Lean Process.
